On Saturday 21st March, I spoke at WordCamp London about building themes with the upcoming, core WordPress REST API (WP-API).
I was overwhelmed by the popularity of the talk. I think there were over 200 people crammed into the room, and many more ended up getting turned away. The photo above shows me trying to get to the stage after making a quick dash to the loo before speaking. (Hat tip to Tim Nash for the photo.)
At some point, the talk will hopefully go up on WordPress.tv. In the meantime I have had quite a few requests for me to share my slides. I’m apprehensive about this because the slides on their own don’t really say all that much. As well as this, I tabbed to some other content on the web for examples and some code explanations.
So I’ve decided to do a little screencast version. I use the term “little” ironically. I massively overran at the WordCamp and with no-one warning me about times, this video is a full 50 minutes! So, in all its bumbling, rambling glory, enjoy the extended edition of this talk.
I can only apologise.

Exiting stuff! Thank you for extended edition 🙂
Nice Screencast and awesome Live Talk @wcvie – thank you – looking forward to picard beeing relased in full.
Looked at this following mooching through your slides from WordCamp Europe. It has in fact meant that I am now going to change the way that I implement something we are developing here.
Didn’t see your talk at London although we did have lunch together, I kind of wish I had since this is fascinating and for me opens up a whole host of possibilities.
I do have a couple of questions for you about this and it would be great if I could have a chat with you.
Cheers
Andrew
